Funeral Planning

There are many things involved in planning a funeral. Readings, music selections, meal choices, and participants in the mass are all things to consider. When a loved one passes away, we will assist your family with planning their funeral mass or memorial liturgy.

For those wishing to pre-plan, the list of funeral readings approved by the United States bishops and the Diocese of Fargo can be found below.

A Funeral Mass follows the same format for readings as a normal mass. A Funeral without a Mass generally has the same elements. Your choices will include:

First Reading: from the Old Testament (Except during the season of Easter, when the first reading comes from the New Testament). See First Readings outside the Easter Season HERE.

Responsorial Psalm: (Typically sung; you select the Psalm you want and we will have the musical version). See Psalm texts HERE.

Second Reading: from the New Testament. See Second Readings HERE.

Gospel: See Gospel Readings HERE.

Please note that only the readings in the linked documents may be used.
