Funeral Planning

There are many things involved in planning a funeral. Readings, music selections, meal choices, and participants in the mass are all things to consider. When a loved one passes away, we will assist your family with planning their funeral mass or memorial liturgy.

For those wishing to pre-plan, the list of funeral readings approved by the USCCB and the Diocese of Fargo can be found here:

A funeral mass or memorial liturgy follows the same format for readings as a normal mass. Your choices will include:

First Reading: from the Old Testament (Except during the season of Easter, when the first reading comes from the New Testament).

Responsorial Psalm: (Typically sung; you select the Psalm you want and we will have the musical version).

Second Reading: from the New Testament.

Gospel

The Funeral Planning booklet linked above contains choices for each of these readings. Only the readings in this booklet may be used.
